Our Most Popular Knives

Bowie

Is a fixed blade knife originally created by James Black over 180 years ago for the legendary frontiersman Colonel  Jim Bowie who died at the Alamo. Its design features incorporate a large fixed blade, with a cross guard and a clip point which is normally carried or stowed in a sheath. A Bowie Knife is known to have an overall length of between 12 and 30 inches with a blade length of 5 to 24 inches.

Dagger

A knife designed as a thrusting or stabbing weapon with a very sharp point.  The history of the dagger dates back to ancient cultures and has not only been used as a weapon but for ceremonial purposes.  The Dagger typically has 2 cutting edges and a sharply tapered point.  A Dagger with a sharp point but no cutting edges is called a stiletto.  As a weapon the Dagger is capable of being used both as a thrusting or stabbing weapon.

Fighter

The Fighting Knife was orginally named for its single purpose of inflicting a lethal injury in a physical confrontation.  Two types of Fighting Knives are the Combat Knife and the Trench Knife.  In World War II the Marine Corps issued a knife called the Mark 2 Combat Knife which was also known as the KA-BAR knife. Fighting Knives gave way to the current Tactical Knife which not only is a formidable fighting knife but a multipurpose knife that can also be used in non-combat situations.  Many of the new Tactical Knives are folding knives whereas the Fighting Knife is a fixed blade knife.

Folder

A folding knife is known by many different styles and names.  Tactical Knife,  Pocket Knife, and Jack Knife are just a few of the names given to these types of Knifes.  Folders have been around for centuries and have not changed a lot over the years except for the materials that are used and the number of blades in the knife.  These knives are the most common knife to carry on a day to day basis and are a very useful tool.  Folding knives can be a work of art with various materials and handles or they can have more of a utility feel with the entire Knife being made of metal.

Hunter

Unlike a Hunting Dagger which is used to kill game, a Hunter or Hunting Knife is used in the processing and preparation of the game after it has been killed.  These knives are used for skinning an animal, cutting up the meat, and various other tasks during the butchering of an animal.  A Hunter typically has a single sharpened edge and is designed for cutting not stabbing.  Many different designs are available and are similar to the designs of a Bowie Knife.

Skinner

A Skinner or Skinning Knife is more of a tool than a weapon and is used in the skinning of animals; removing the skin from the caracas of the animal.  These knives typically have a short wide blade that is sharpened on one side.  The blade tends to be very ridged with very little flexibility.  Although they are typically known for their fixed blade, Skinners cannot be found with folding blades.
